PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
May 18, 2011


A quorum being present, Co-Chairperson Patricia Begley called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:20 p.m. in the second floor conference room in the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


PRESENT:        Paul Barry, Patricia Begley, Linda Carrasquillo, Charles Clarke, Bernard Corona, Edward Dettore, Vincent Parys, Eugene Pushefski, Melodie Wilson.
Excused:   Margaret Byrnes.
ABSENT:    Susan Tukey, Richard Begley


OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:

None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  

A quorum being present, Commissioner Charles Clarke motioned that the April 20, 2011 minutes be approved.  Commissioner Vincent Parys, 2nd.

MOTION:  Approved.  

        


CORRESPONDENCE:  An invitation to the 2011 Hartford Veteran’s Day Parade has been received by the Commission.
Commissioner Vincent Parys will represent the East Hartford Patriotic Commission with a Parade float.

BILLS:  Motion made by Commissioner Charles Clarke to pay the clerk.  Commissioner Paul Barry 2nd.
                        MOTIONS:  Passed.  

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Budget balance is $7200.00

UNFINISHED/OLD/ BUSINESS:   Flags will be placed at the cemeteries on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  Dedication of memorial for Richard Ford will take place on Sunday, May 30, 2011 at Bicentennial Square.  Commission Members will meet on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 8;00 A.M. at the Triple A Diner at 8 a.m. to finalize instructions for the Memorial Day Parade.

NEW BUSINESS:   Motion made by Commissioner Charles Clarke to cancel the June, July and August Commission meetings.  Commissioner Paul Barry 2nd.  

                MOTION:  Passed.
